Hooray for Tax Free Shopping Week! Here's what's on my (locavore) toddler clothing shopping hit list...

It's Maryland's Tax Free Shopping week! According to the Comptroller's website, qualifying apparel and footwear less than $100 are exempt from the 6% Maryland sales tax. The only bummer? Accessories don't count. (Sorry, Lila, you'll just have to wait a little longer for your first Coach purse... and probably for a heck of a better deal than just no sales tax!)It's a great time to start outfitting your tike, and these local chic child places are on my shopping hit list:

Wee Chic
: Of course Wee Chic - a baby boutique is on my list! (I know, I just haven't said enough great things about this gem...)They've got the new fall Tea Collection out (an absolute favorite of mine) and are the only local place to offer Lucky Jade. Have you seen the Lucky Jade graphics? So modern. So chic. So adorable. Congrats to Wee Chic for being named Baltimore's Best Kid's Boutique! (And stay tuned for a possible Tea Collection trunk show announcement from Wee Chic - - Tea just launched a new womens line and Bridget, wee chic's owner, is working lining up a preview for fashionably fabulous Baltimore moms!)

The Lily Pad of Towson
: I haven't had a chance to check this place out yet, but several fashionable mommy-friends have declared The Lily Pad be an absolute goldmine. Upscale clothing at consignment prices. Can't really beat that! They are currently offering 50% off of all summer clothing items (excluding Lily Pulitzer. And I'm ok with that. I just can't seem to hop on the Lily Pulitzer bandwagon...and I LIKE pink and green...). Stock up for next summer or buy pieces that can easily transition to fall. Just like your wardrobe, your daughter's summer tanks work under a lightweight sweater and colorful stockings or leggings will take a skirt or knit dress well into the school year. The Lily Pad carries some new items. On my list? Western Chief Rainboots for my just-recently- puddle-jumping Bug and possibly a Scout lunchbag... Darn. Lunchbag doesn't count for exemption...

The Pied Piper
: I've only window shopped The Pied Piper, but I came across the Deux Par Deux collection online and they carry the line. Kinda LOVE the Deux Par Deux snowsuits I found online... (I know - - how can I be thinking snow when it's 97 degrees out?!?). Remember the 100+ feet of snow we had last winter? Yeah, me too.

Baby Gap
: Not necessarily a 'local' place, but Baby Gap is pretty darn amazing for playground staples. They've got a buy one pair of jeans, get one for $10 deal going on. Love the medium dark wash bootcut jeans. Do they come in my size, too? Playwear is 2 for $22 (long sleeve tees and leggings), and their graphic tees are just plain adorable. Thinking of cashing in the Bug's birthday gift certificates on some fall staples!

Red Tree:
This fun and funky Hampden boutique is right around the corner from us. While they carry everything from furniture to the best stocking stuffers around (ok yes, I'm starting to think Christmas...), they ALSO have a fun selection of baby and toddler items. The wonderful team at Red Tree introduced me to Rileyroos - - a local baby shoe company (based in Cockeysville) that has a just plain fantastic product. Lila has been sporting 'Roos for months and I'm on the hunt for a new fall pair!

And if there is ANY money leftover for me, where should I go? What's your favorite Maryland area clothing boutique or shop? (Adult or child - - doesn't matter!)
