Got the winter blahs? Kids a bit stir crazy {{and there for driving you batty?}} Here are some great options for getting out of the house this weekend!

Build Your Own Cupcake Bar

It's Wild Outside - - at the Zoo
For the first time in 5 years, the Maryland Zoo is OPEN during the winter months Fridays through Mondays from 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Bundle up, grab a thermos of hot cocoa and visit the animals! We hear the polar bears are particularly active this time of year. Added bonus? The LONG nap you'll get to take post venture into the cold...

Hot Cocoa for Water
Our friends at Classic Play have launched a FABULOUS initiative raising money charity:water.org, which works to provide access to safe drinking water. You could check out Classic Play's project post and find tips to host your own stand, or you can head over to the Paradise neighborhood of Catonsville and buy a cup of cocoa! Jen Cooper (Classic Play & Ellie Bellie Kids) and Kirstin Nilsen (NilsenLife) are hosting a fabulous outside shindig of a fundraiser. Hot chocolate, peppermint swizzle sticks, marshmallows ...

Meet Author Jerdine Nolen
Local teacher-turned-author Jerdine Nolan has something to celebrate this weekend: the national book launch of her first novel, Eliza’s Freedom Road: An Underground Railroad Diary. The Maryland Women's Heritage Center will host Nolan on Saturday, January 22nd from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Nolan will speak and sign copies of the book, which are available for purchase.

Go on an Indoor Adventure at Kiddie Crusoe
Kiddie City Play areas, castle forts, pirate ships, a Nintendo Wii lounge and more... have your kiddos bounce out all of the pent up energy at Kiddie Crusoe! For $12 per child (ages 1-12), your kids can act out their storybook adventures in over 12,000 square feet of play areas. Adults get in for free, and can enjoy a cup of coffee and browse the toy store.
