Our picks for what to do with the kiddos this weekend... with a side of shameless self promotion.

(cool) progeny Playdate at Great Kids Village: Yep. That's right! We're hosting our first play date! We'll be at Great Kids Village in Columbia on Saturday, February 19th from 10 AM-1PM. Come play with us in their 24,000 square foot indoor playground, featuring a real firetruck, ambulance, castle, sandbox, space room and so much more. There will be a special Little Rockers Dance Class from 10:30 - 11:00 AM (just for CP fans), family goodie bags and snacks. The play space is designed for kids ages one through ten, and is sure to be a hit with your family.

Maple Sugarin' Fun: It's sure to be super sweet! Irvine Nature Center, our favorite area nature center, is celebrating maple sap harvest and inviting you and your little ones to get in on the fun. They have two Maple Magic sessions this weekend (one on Saturday, one on Sunday) from 1-2:30 PM. Walk through Irvine's woods in a quest to make delicious maple syrup. Learn how to identify maple trees, properly tap a tree to collect its sugary sap, and convert the sticky fluid into syrup using Irvine's enormous evaporator. There is also a sugary sweet storytime for the little kids on Saturday at 10:00 AM!

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie: Our Bug LOVES this delightful children's series and now you can take your little one to see it come to life on the Pumpkin Theatre stage! A mouse shows up at a little boy's house and asks for a cookie. The mouse receives the cookie and wants a glass of milk. He receives the glass of milk and wants a straw. He receives the straw… The rest becomes a chain of never-ending events! The show runs this weekend and next. You can catch it Saturday or Sunday at 1:00 PM or 3:00 PM. We've not been to a Pumpkin Theatre show yet, but Evan Serpick over at Learning to Crawl is raving about them.

The Many Faces of George Washington: The National Museum of Dentistry has a whole weekend of presidential fun planned in honor of President's Day Weekend. Did you know that George Washington’s teeth were not made of wood? You can take a peek at the first president’s famous choppers and find out more about his tooth troubles at the National Museum of Dentistry. At 1:00 PM on Saturday, Children's author Carla Killough McClafferty shares discoveries about the first president from her new book “The Many Faces of Geroge Washington: Remaking a Presidential Icon,” including how his infamous dentures helped determine the shape of his face.

Alice in Wonderland Follies: A little kiddie culture anyone? The New York Theater Ballet follows Alice on her adventures in Wonderland with the White Rabbit, Mad Hatter, and, of course, the Queen of Hearts. Two additional pieces performed are Septet, set to two musical compositions by Erik Satie, and Soiree Musicale set to Rossini's inspiring melodies. At Harford Community College on Saturday night.
