what's up for the weekend... february 4-6

There are lots of fun things happening around Charm City this weekend. Here are our top picks!

Tooth Time for Tots
Looking for something to do Friday afternoon? Check out Tooth Time for Tots at the National Museum of Dentistry at 2:00 PM. Children can explore what their smile says about them through stories, play, and hands-on activities. This month they examine the museum's collection of toothbrushes through time, design a toothbrush of their own, practice brushing, and read the book Sesame Street Ready, Set, Brush. (This one might be a great one if you have a reluctant brusher at home. You know - -the one that runs screaming down the hallway when you pull out the toothbrush?)

Click Clack Moo
Our Bug LOVES the new classic children's book Click Clack Moo -- so I was beyond elated to see that Harford Community College is putting on a musical based on the award winning book. You can catch the show at 5:30 PM or 7:30 PM on Friday.

Beethoven: A Musical Hero
Travel back in time and uncover the remarkable life of one of history's greatest composers, Ludwig van Beethoven. Listen as the BSO plays music from some of Beethoven's most heralded and recognizable pieces including Für Elise, Symphonies Nos. 5 and 9, and his Moonlight Sonata. The BSO Family Fun Zone starts at 10am on Saturday and features the World Rhythm Drum Circus, the ZOOmobile, face painting, and more. Order tickets in advance.

Knee High Adventures
Preschoolers can go out and about on the Discovery Trail, investigating nature with songs, games, and sensory activities at Anita C. Leight Estuary Center. (Be sure to take your rain boots - - it's bound to be sloshy!)

Chinese New Year Celebration at The Walters Art Museum
The Chinese New Year starts with a bang at the Walters Art Museum! 2011 is the year of the Rabbit, a lucky sign on the Chinese Zodiac. Enjoy traditional New Year performances on Sunday by The Johns Hopkins University Lion Dance Troupe, the Baltimore Chinese School and more. Ensure your own good fortune in the New Year by creating your own rabbit-inspired works of art!

African American Month Family Day at The Baltimore Museum of Art
On Sunday, Storytellers and dance/musical groups take the stage during the BMA’s FREE Family Day devoted to African-American history makers from Maryland. Explore art works by African-American artists, and become an artist yourself during hands-on art making workshops and gallery tours.
