just for moms: spring wardrobe inspiration

Today is one of those just-for-mom posts. We'll be back to our regularly-scheduled-kid-posts tomorrow!

The yo-yo-ing temperatures lately have coincided with my feelings about my closet.

It's the age-old complaint of women all over the world: I have nothing to WEAR.

The Bug's spring wardrobe is looking much fresher than my own. {{Does THAT sound familiar?}}. Probably because she's growing out of clothes faster than I can acquire them! Me? I'm pretty much staying the same. So I have the internal financial argument: do you really need new clothes?

Of course, there is the added complication of actually finding time to shop. It's almost impossible to find the time or the "Bug Coverage." {{Trying to shop with a toddler in tow could be equated to entering the seventh circle of hell...}}. Therefore, I throw on the same, tired clothes I always do. You know - - those one or two 'every day' outfits I always seem to be wearing.

I need clothes that don't just pull double duty. They have to pull quadruple duty. They have to go to work, playground, dinner out, grocery store, meetings, interviews, play dates, videoconferences, family brunches and (when we get the chance!) date night. I am a work-from-home-or-take-your-kid-to-work mom. So it's not just a cliche saying with me. My wardrobe has to be versatile.

Just when I was going into a rut, the Garnet Hill Catalog showed up today -- and inspired me. I think I'm going to have to make time for shopping...

Some of my picks -- and commentary:
I LOVE a good dress. Especially if it's cotton and comes out of the washing machine looking like it did when I bought it off the rack. Not sold on the fedora, but am a firm believe that if ya got it - - flaunt it.
Needless to say the belt and scarf are still the go-to accessories for spring. I think I'll be investing... Agreed that skirts can sometimes be problematic on the playground. But they are definitely my spring 'go to' item, so I love these looks!
Seriously... love the little flutter sleeved sweater! And hooray for ruffles. They add a bit of sass to even the most basic of staples (i.e. tank tops).

Inspired yourself?

PS: This is not in any way shape or form a sponsored post. Just me. Rambling. All images are from garnethill.com.

I have been feeling this exact same way, and was lucky enough to do some shopping with a friend this past weekend. We hit up Target, Kohls, Old Navy and Marshalls and were able to find a few cute new things, besides my basic khaki shorts and t-shirt, without breaking the budget.
