what's up for the weekend - oct. 1 - oct. 2

Sorry we're a little late getting this up folks! We were just too darned excited about launching the Give Mom a Break contest with Pampered Mommas. There are LOTS of things happening in and around the city this weekend, but here are our top five picks for things to do with the kiddos:

Ultimate Block Party: You may have seen our announcement about this fantastic day of play last week on the blog. Sunday is the BIG DAY! Bring your family for a fun day filled with playful activities that show firsthand the importance of play in learning. Play is the work of our children, helping to develop the skills they will need in school, in life and in the workplace of the 21st century. To critical thinking and communications to collaboration and creativity, these skills can be nurtured while playing in the sandbox, painting a picture or simply looking under a rock. Fun happens from 11 AM - 5 PM. {{<--- We aren't missing this!}}

Fells Point Fun Festival: Speaking of fun, the Fells Point Fun Festival takes place this weekend. Arts and crafts vendors. Live entertainment. Carnival rides and more than 40 food vendors. Catch the action on Thames Street on Saturday and Sunday.

Sugarloaf Crafts Festival: All weekend at the Maryland State Fairgrounds. More than 250 of the nation’s most accomplished craftspeople will personally show and sell functional and decorative pottery, sculpture, glass, jewelry, fashion, wood, metal, furniture, home accessories, photography, and fine art. We're headed there today, so stay tuned for pics!

Trinity Fall Festival: Lots of childrens' activities at this annual event, which takes place on Saturday from 10 AM - 4 PM. Moon bounces, face painting, games, petting zoo and pony rides. Live music, Food, Crafts and fine arts, Pumpkin and scarecrow making,

Honey Harvest Festival: All weekend at Oregon Nature Center! Hive demonstrations, beeswax candle dipping, and mead (honey wine) making. Children will enjoy homemade baked delights. Other children's activities include face painting, puppet shows, and a petting zoo with chickens and sheep.
