zoo zoom coming back this november

Ever wanted to run with the animals? Here's your chance. {{Sort of}}. After a several year hiatus, The Maryland Zoo in Baltimore announced the return of Zoo Zoom, an 8K race that winds its way through Druid Hill Park and the Zoo. Although animals aren't running in the pack per se, some will be visiting with runners post-race. Zoo Zoom takes place on Sunday, November 20, 2011, at 8:30 am.

Not ready for couch to 8K? There's a Family Fun Run at 9:30 a.m. It's just a mile and great for kids!

“We are thrilled to work with Mission Media and Falls Road Running Store on reviving this unique race,” said Nancy Hinds, executive vice president of Institutional Advancement at the Zoo. “We think we have an intriguing course which will bring people through the Zoo in close proximity to some of our wonderful animals.”

Everyone who registers for the 8K race will receive a commemorative long-sleeve T-shirt, and awards will be given out.  A post-race party will include food, refreshments, prize drawings, and visits from some of the Zoo’s animal ambassadors.

Interested? Hurry up and register!  The race is limited to the first 500 entrants. 8K participation costs $30 and the Family Fun Run is a steal at $12. All registration fees include same day admission to the Zoo.  All proceeds will support The Maryland Zoo and its many conservation project efforts.
