what's up for the weekend: halloween edition

Looks like mother nature is playing one heckuva a trick on us (snow for Halloween? really!?!?). But it doesn't seem like a little icy rain and snow is frightening off all of the Halloween fun this weekend. Here are our spooktacular picks (and we'll keep you as up to date as we can about cancellations and reschedules on our facebook wall).

FALL-O-WEEN at Port Discovery: Join Port Discovery for their annual FALL-O-WEEN Festival! Dress up in your favorite costume and enjoy fun and engaging activities and performances, including: Make a Tutu at the Tutu Fabulous Factory, Make Your Own Mummy, Wildlife Adventures, Halloween Drum Jam, Moonbounce, Cinnamon Bats with McCormick & Co., Inc. Performances by Mr. Norman and COMMOTION, and MORE! Saturday from 10 AM - 4 PM.

Spooky Science at the Maryland Science Center: Celebrate the chills and thrills of Halloween at our third annual Spooky Science, where creepy chemistry and mysterious science combine to provide a hauntingly good time. Their mad scientists will be roaming through the building with hair-raising experiments and fangtastic demonstrations. There will be glowing slime, mask and pumpkin decorating and a punkin’ chunkin’ contest. Wear your costume to make it a truly spooktacular day. Saturday from 12 PM to 4 PM.

ZooBOOO at the Maryland Zoo: Seems like a little rain and snow isn't scaring the ZooBOOO crew this weekend. Nab an umbrella (or dress as a poncho) for Baltimore's safest Halloween trick or treating. This year ZooBOOO! includes visits from their Animal Ambassadors, a costume contest each day, carnival games, crafts, a hay maze, entertainment from the stage and much more! Out and about on Zoo grounds, there will be keeper chats and special animal enrichment activities, including everyone’s favorite – the Elephant Pumpkin Smash! Zoo guests can watch as many animals receive their own fall treats at different times during the ZooBOOO! weekend. Happens from 10 AM - 4PM Saturday and Sunday.

Halloween of Light & Luminaria Parade in Patterson Park (was rescheduled to SUNDAY, OCTOBER 30th at 7:00 PM). A FABULOUS event! Lantern making, hayrides, food and more. The festival takes place beginning at 3. Join the parade at 6:30 on Eastern and Linwood, step off at 7 p.m. and follow through to Pulaski Monument. Free to kids and adults.

Animals in Disguise at Irvine Nature Center: Come dressed as your favorite critter just before Halloween. We’ll learn why animals like raccoons wear masks and walk around looking for treats at night! Be sure to come early for face painting. All ages. Saturday from 1:30 - 3:00 PM.

Charm City Kids Club Halloween Spectacular: So maybe it's not until Monday, but we're still pretty stoked about this! Charm City Kids Club will be open special hours on Halloween for a Halloween Spectacular.  Come in costume prepared to watch a special Halloween Science Spectacular performed by Eric Energy and then play in CCKC's play town.  $10 members/$12 nonmembers.  Must RSVP ahead of time to info@charmcitykidsclub.com.
